Financial Assistance Scheme

MOE has many schemes to support the educational needs of Singaporean students especially those from low-income families.

SAC Financial Assistance Scheme

Eligibility criteria for application:

  1. The family’s Gross Household Income (GHI)≤$3000 or Gross Per Capita Income (GHI ÷ No. of members in the household) does not exceed $750 per month. (GHI = Basic income and all other allowances)

Successful applicants will be offered:

  • $5.00 per school day for GHI ≤$1500 or Gross PCI ≤ $375
  • $4.00 per school day for GHI >$1500 & ≤ $2260 or Gross PCI >$375 & ≤ $565
  • $3.00 per school day for GHI >$2260 & ≤ $3000 or Gross PCI >$565 & ≤ $750

To Apply:

  • Applications must be renewed on a yearly basis.
  • For both first time applications and renewals, come down to General Office to get a copy of the application form.

MOE Financial Assistance Scheme

Eligibility:

  1. Only open to Singapore citizens
  2. Family’s gross household income (GHI) does not exceed $2,500 per month or the family’s per capita income (PCI) does not exceed $625 per month.
  3. Family is in receipt of social welfare aid (ie RUAS or PAS) and the head of the household has an official registration pass for social welfare aid or
  4. The pupil is an inmate in one of the welfare organizations.

What is given:

  • Full waiver of school fees
  • Full waiver (100%) of standard miscellaneous fees
  • Free textbooks
  • Free school attire: includes 2 sets of uniform, 2 sets of PE attire, 2 sets of socks and 1 pair of shoes
  • Full waiver of GCE ‘N’ and ‘O’ Level examination (for MCYS-PAS cases)
  • 75% waiver of GCE ‘N’ and ‘O’ Level examination (for non MCYS-PAS cases)

IDA’s NEU PC Plus Programme

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) is extending 3 schemes to provide affordable PCs and Broadband access to students who require financial assistance.

1. PC-Bundle Scheme

What it is?

Offers new computer bundled with 3-year of free broadband access and software at an affordable price. Students have to co-pay for their computers. Co-payment amount depends on computer model selected.

Eligibility:

  • Open to Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • Applicant’s household does not have a working computer with system specifications that meet school’s learning needs
  • Total monthly household income ≤ $2700
  • Or Per capita income of household ≤ $700
  • Or Per capita income of household ≤ $875 (if there is a permanently disabled household member)

2.iNSPIRE Fund

What it is?

For PC-Bundle applicants, who have difficulty with the co-payment , you may apply for assistance under iNSPIRE Fund. Applicants under this scheme have to do some form of community service to get their PC Bundle fully paid by IDA.

Eligibility:

  • Open to Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • Total monthly household income ≤ $1800
  • Or Per capita income of household ≤ $500
