2013

The school would like to extend our heartiest congratulation to Mr Ivin Chan, who has been awarded the Distinguished Fulbright Awards in Teaching Programme 2013.

Mr Chan Ivin was in Washington D.C for the programme from August 2013 to December 2013. The DFA programme, based at the School of Education at the University of Maryland, provided opportunities for professional collaboration, and for learning about educational issues in a global context. Mr Chan got to audit courses, attend conferences, and conduct research in an area of interest. He also had the opportunity to consult with educational experts, and observe and teach classes in American schools. This attachment truly gave him a deeper understanding of the educational system and culture in the US.

Mr Kam Yong Chuan received the Most Inspiring Chinese Teachers Award 2010 on 27 May 2011. This award is organised by Lianhe Zaobao, supported by Singapore Chinese Middle School Teachers’ Association and Singapore Chinese Teachers’ Union, sponsored by Lee Foundation and endorsed by Ministry of Education.

Miss Sim Hui Yin received the Most Inspiring Chinese Teachers Award 2010 on 29 May 2010. We are pleased to announce that the following teachers have been given national awards this year for their dedication and creative teaching.

Mdm Wong (second from the left) received the President’s Award for Teachers 2009 from President S.R. Nathan at the Istana on Teachers’ Day on1 September 2009. This is the highest award given to teachers by the Ministry of Education in Singapore, and it recognises the commitment of outstanding teachers towards the total development of students and to nation-building. Mdm Wong is certainly one of our inspiring teachers who has demonstrated passion, innovation and dedication in teaching.

Miss Leow received the Outstanding Youth in Education (OYEA) 2009. T his award — a collaboration between the National Youth Council and the Ministry of Education — is given to teachers below the age of 30 who have impacted youths not just in the schools but also in the community. Miss Leow has conferred the award for her passion in working with youths and her generous contribution to the grassroots community.

Mr Kamaludin (second from the left) is the winner of the national award, Outstanding History Teacher Award 2009. This award is given to one teacher every two years by the History Association of Singapore. Mr Kamaludin was recognised for his dedication to his students and his ability to teach History in creative and engaging ways.
